The Cannes Film Festival is in full swing, and Emma Stone arrived yesterday to promote Irrational Man. The film, directed and written by Woody Allen, is premiering at the festival today, with Emma Stone scheduled to attend both the photocall and premiere. Deadline talked to Woody Allen about his very prolific career and also about Irrational Man, of course. He mentioned working with Emma in a very sweet way, here’s what he said:
“Often, I write a part with an actor in mind; I didn’t the case of Irrational Man. I finished the story because I thought I had a good idea. Then, who would be good for this? The first thought I had was certainly Emma Stone because she’s great for practically anything. She’s young and beautiful and gifted and she plays comedy, romance, drama. I saw her singing and dancing on Broadway… she was an easy choice.”
Check back later today for coverage from both events!
The photos of Emma Stone for Interview magazine’s May issue have finally been released – she’s looking just as beautiful as ever! The interview, written by Diane Keaton, is a very interesting and entertaining piece as well. As we await the magazine scans, you can check out the pictures in our photo gallery and the article in our press archive.
In the last decade or so, as the big top Hollywood circus has seemingly consolidated itself around the tent poles of the scatological comedy and the superhero melodrama of teen-boy dreams, even the most talented leading ladies have to make do with slight, sexy tomboy parts or girl-next-door roles.
It’s slim pickings—repeatedly demonstrating how down to hang and talk sports or make toilet jokes with the fellas they are, but also, oh wait, she is actually a fiery sex pot if and when we care to take notice. But, at only 26 years of age, Emma Stone has become one of the most singular and dynamic stars in movies by shaking the dust off of these traps and filling them with a magnetism and verve all her own.
Great news, everyone – Emma Stone is featured on the cover of Interview magazine’s May issue! She was interviewed by actress Diane Keaton, which should be very fun since she’s one of Emma’s favourites. Emma looks absolutely fantastic on the cover, which can be seen in bigger size by clicking on the thumbnail to the left. Big thanks to The Fashion Spot for the cover-preview; a HQ version as well as scans from the issue will be added when available. For now, enjoy!

Another two pictures from Woody Allen’s upcoming film Irrational Man have been released. Both images have Emma Stone in character – looking beautiful as ever, don’t you think? The comedy centers on a tormented philosophy professor who finds a will to live when he falls in love with one of his students. Irrational Man will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival later this month, and arrives in theaters on July 24th. Click on the previews below to see both images in our photo gallery.

According to The Wrap, Lionsgate confirmed that Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone will star in La La Land, a musical from Oscar-nominated Whiplash writer-director Damien Chazelle! Jordan Horowitz of Gilbert Films, Fred Berger of Impostor Pictures and Marc Platt produced the film, which will open on July 15, 2016 via Lionsgate’s Summit Entertainment. In this modern take on the Hollywood musical, Sebastian (Gosling) and Mia (Stone) are drawn together by their common desire to do what they love. But as success mounts they are faced with decisions that begin to fray the fragile fabric of their love affair, and the dreams they worked so hard to maintain in each other threaten to rip them apart. Who else is super-excited to see Emma and Ryan on screen together again?!
