Emma was rumored to be in talks to make her Broadway debut in the upcoming revival of CABARET in the role of Sally Bowles. Now according to the New York Times, Stone has pulled out of the upcoming show. Stone’s publicist told NYT that she “has scheduling conflicts with a feature film that prevent her from joining the musical.” Sam Mendes and Rob Marshall will co-direct the production, which will open at Studio 54 next spring. A Roundabout spokesperson told NYT: “Roundabout is in the casting phase and exploring if the production can come together with the most ideal cast.”

Stone most recently appeared on the big screen in “Gangster Squad” and lent her voice to DreamWorks hit animated film “The Croods.” Next summer she will reprise her role as Gwen Stacy in the second installment of “The Amazing Spider-Man.”

Cabaret is based on a book written by Christopher Isherwood, with music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. The 1966 Broadway production became a hit and spawned a 1972 film starring Liza Minnelli and Joel Grey. It was revived on Broadway in both 1987 and 1998.
